The breakfast sandwich is something special. Whether you choose the vegetarian option or the bacon version it is well worth the price. The coffee is excellent and the staff is very friendly. We were in Pittsburgh for two days and went there twice. Each time was great!

We walked from Market Square area to the closest De Fer location. The iced latte was great. The greeting to let us know they were closing and there wasn’t food available because they turned the press off was inconsiderate. We weren’t even there for food. Not to mention that 4 others came in after us and that wasn’t said to them. We were there 30 minutes before they closed. Customer service should always be your top priority. The cafe is small at the location we visited; we were in Pittsburgh for a wedding so we weren’t familiar with this area. Although our greeting was inappropriate, the coffee was great and I would recommend it.

Listen, I was starving when I got to De Fer Coffee & Tea, so forgive the half-devoured photo of my breakfast sandwich. I couldn’t wait. One bite of that crispy bacon, fluffy egg, and perfectly toasted bread, and I blacked out for a second—it was that good. Like, Marcus Freeman-strategy-on-4th-and-goal good. And let’s talk about the caramel macchiato. Smooth, bold, just sweet enough to make you think it’s a dessert but still feel like an adult. Honestly, sipping it gave me the same satisfaction as watching Notre Dame roll over the University of Pittsburgh in South Bend. Pure bliss. If this sandwich were a football coach, it’d be Marcus Freeman—young, fresh, energizing, and somehow already elite. The man led Notre Dame to a bowl win his first full season. Meanwhile, this sandwich led me to spiritual enlightenment before 9 a.m. Oh, and shoutout to Notre Dame legend Jerome Bettis—aka “The Bus.” I feel like if he had eaten this sandwich before games, he would've rushed for 5,000 yards in a season. Then again, he might’ve just parked himself at De Fer and never left. “The Bus” turns into “The Booth.” De Fer? 10/10. Would fumble my diet for it again.

To say I was taken by surprise would be an understatement. I didn’t expect this place to solve all my problems, but somehow, it did. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a level of service that makes Starbucks feel like a half-hearted attempt at hospitality. The staff here don’t just make coffee; they keep you awake! And the atmosphere? There’s no comparison. It’s cozy, inviting, and full of character. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to stay awhile, whether you’re working, catching up with a friend, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. If you genuinely enjoy quality coffee and thoughtful service, this is the place to go. If you’ve recently ended things with Starbucks, think of this as your upgrade. You won’t be disappointed.

Awesome little coffee shop only a 11 minute walk from PNC Park. Ordered the Blueberry Vanilla Latte and the Hibiscus Jamaica are both were excellent. If you are ever near downtown, worth stopping for sure.

Staff was friendly & patient - location / atmosphere is nice and I loved their chia pudding. I could also tell their espresso is wonderful, but unfortunately the milk texture of my latte was not great - that, and it was far above scalding hot. I think y’all didn’t think I would notice on milk since I took my latte to go, but overall I think this is a nice shop and I’m glad I stopped in!

We were so excited to finally try this place! It was good coffee but sizes were quite small. May come back to give the food a shot
